Dr Joy Lee

Dr Joy Lee is the Principal Dentist and Owner of Bayview Dental Centre in Runaway Bay and Helensvale. She is experienced in all facets of modern dentistry, including general, family, cosmetic dentistry and has a particular interest in implant dentistry. Dr Joy has a Masters in Dental Implants and is constantly up to date on recent advances in this area.

Joy has a loyal following of patients. She is passionate about making their experience and treatment a top priority. She constantly integrates technical developments into her practices to ensure patients spend less time in the dentist chair and more time doing the things they love.

Joy grew up in Auckland, New Zealand. She moved to Brisbane after completing high school and graduated in dentistry from The University of Queensland in 2003.

In her spare time, Joy loves to spend time with her family, enjoys pilates, snowboarding and travelling overseas.

Dr Mikki Carleton

Dr Mikki is a passionate and approachable dentist who was born and raised on the sunny Gold Coast. After dreaming of becoming a dentist ever since she was five, she completed her studies at Griffith University.

Mikki loves everything about dentistry but is most passionate about changing peoples’ perception about dentistry! She focuses on being very gentle-handed and caring. Her patient relationships are her highest priority, and she will strive to make you feel very comfortable.

Treatment wise, Mikki loves aesthetic and cosmetic treatments. She loves helping people feel confident when they smile through fillings, bonding, Invisalign, veneers, crowns and dentures. She is constantly trying to help patients achieve the best smile, with the least amount of work. Mikki will always go out of her way to make you feel valued, and puts a great deal of emphasis on communication and thorough treatment planning. You will always know what to expect with Mikki, and she loves spending time answering questions and chatting.

Outside of the clinic, Mikki loves anything creative! She spends most of her time sculpting miniatures, making jewellery and painting.

Dr Timothy Achterberg

Dr Tim is a gentle and caring dentist who grew up on the Gold Coast before completing his dental studies at the University of Queensland.

Tim is committed to providing personalised dental care tailored to the unique needs of each person. With a focus on preventive dentistry and patient education, Tim is always eager to address any questions people may have. Tim takes pleasure in collaborating with patients to develop a customised treatment plan, ensuring that every visit is as comfortable as possible.

Other than dentistry, Tim enjoys spending his spare time playing or listening to music, as well as watching the latest shows.

Dr Lay Lim

Dr. Lay Lim received her Bachelor of Dental Surgery from the University of Adelaide, South Australia and has worked in Adelaide and Mackay prior to joining our practice in 2022.

Her compassionate and friendly professional manner are a perfect fit for the Ashmore Dental team. Dr Lay is hugely committed to providing high quality dental care with an emphasis on disease prevention. One of her missions is to help patients overcome their fear of dentists. She enjoys all aspects of dentistry and is particularly passionate in the areas of paediatric dentistry and prosthodontics. She is trained in nitrous oxide administration, and loved to find techniques to reduce patients’ anxiety and keep them comfortable during procedures.

She is also fluent in multiple languages i.e. English, Mandarin, Cantonese and Bahasa. Outside of dentistry, she enjoys activities such as hiking, cycling and picnics. You may likely find Lay catching up with friends while sipping a perfect cuppa in the Queensland sunshine.
